Is the season over or summer just beginning? A rare sunny day came out for the last sportiv of the year. The Ardennes were in full summer green and a great day to be riding. This ride lets you know what's in store from the beginning, a good leg opening climb 6km in sets the day up. Barely a flat road for the next 80km. Either up or down, while not alpine enough of either to make the legs ache too much but still provide a big smile on the down. These are the roads of LBL, a certain Phil has a lot of white paint marking his roads. The route card doesn't show three step bumps to get over in the last 10km-lots of riders going backwards. Turning back onto the start road I saw a new smile, one of joy replacing the nervous version four hours earlier. A first sportiv done for one rider, end of the summer season for another.
